Recreation and Leisure - Little Rock Homes Guide

Recreation and Leisure

Little Rock is the home of the Arkansas Travelers Minor League Baseball team. They are part of the larger Texas League. Additionally, two former minor-league hokey teams were once based in Little Rock. The Arkansas River Blades and Arkansas Glacier Cats have disbanded, yet they were both located in the Little Rock area. The Glacier Cats were based in the city of Little Rock while the River Blades played just North of the city.

The Arkansas River Blades were originally call the Arkansas Razorbacks and were an East Coast Hockey League franchise that had adopted a razorback hog as a mascot. The administration of the University of Arkansas did not like the name of the team and it was change to the Arkansas River blades.

The Arkansas Glacier Cats was a team that was very short lived. It was formed in 1998, but when the Arkansas River Blades formed in 2000, the Glacier Cats were disbanded due to poor ticket sales.

Little Rock is considering offering the Arkansas Travelers a new home downtown, taking heed of a national baseball trend to move stadiums back to urban areas.
