About the City
Little Rock Arkansas is as rich in history as it is in diversity. In this medium-sized city, most widely known as the birthplace of former president, Bill Clinton, the Old South is melded with the convenience of the modern world. The people of Arkansas are friendly and easy going, characterizing the front-porch attitude made most popular by the 1950’s romanticized American south films.
Little Rock is located in the center of Arkansas almost directly where the Southeast and Southwest intersect and where the delta begins to grow into mountains. The city is 286 feet above sea level, Central Arkansas experiences four distinct seasons each with its own distinct characteristics.
The city of Little Rock is located right along the Arkansas River on the South Bank. The city has two creeks that dissect it and feed the river: Fourche Creek and Rock Creek. The western edge of the city begins the slope into the Ouachita Mountain. Right outside of Little Rock, the western mountain range becomes Pinnacle Mountain and Lake Maumelle. These two mountains have creeks that deliver fresh drinking water to Little Rock. North Little Rock, a separate city from Little Rock, can be found on the northern side of the Arkansas River.
